Adelaide Mobile Body Analysis uses the InBody 570 body scanning machine. The InBody 570 uses Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) technology which is fast, safe to use and provides accurate results.
BIA determines body composition by sending a very low current at multiple frequencies through the body and measuring the resistance to that current. Because different tissues have different conductivity, this method can provide accurate estimates of fat mass, muscle mass, and total body water.
BIA is more accurate than BMI (Body Mass Index), skin fold callipers and bathroom scales as measures of progress in fitness and health. BMI and bathroom scales rely solely on your weight and cannot distinguish between muscle, fat, water or bone – meaning they are a rough guide at best. Skin fold callipers only measure subcutaneous fat (body fat under the skin), and not visceral fat (fat around your organs).
For example, if you’ve been working hard in the gym and manage to build 1kg of muscle and lose 1kg of body fat at the same time, this will show up as no change on regular scales. However a body composition scan will reveal the true progress that you have made.
The InBody 570 will give you a printout of your results and the scan results are also available to view on the free MyBodyResults App, enabling comparisons between multiple body scans to check on your progress.
